What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

I have used a number of equipment when filming my preliminary task and I was the cameraman therefore had the most experience with the camera and its equipment. This is the equipment I used:

-Tripod
-Microphone
-Canon DSL 650 D with 18-55mm lens
-iMac

I learnt that every piece of equipment has a different function and they all help in their own way.


A tripod is a portable three-legged frame, used as a platform for supporting the weight and maintaining the stability of some other object. A tripod provides stability against downward forces and horizontal forces and movements about horizontal axes.
Microphone

The Microphone picked up the conversation between the antagonist and protagonist very well. With its different features to help pick up sound this microphone was very useful.


Canon DSL 650 D with 18 - 55mm lens


As cameraman i had the most experience with the camera, it was easy to use. The camera was touch screen making the user interface easier to use and allowing the user to change certain aspects easily such as ISO change, aperture, shutter speed and white balance. 

iMac

Strengths:
  • Enough memory to hold all of our footage (which included up to three takes of each scene)  even including all the bloopers and behind the scenes, research and planning, etc.
  • The iMac would auto save our work incase anything went wrong for example if it crashed/freezed.
  • The iMac monitors had ultra HD retina display meaning we could view/edit our work with precision and accuracy.
  • The mics on the iMac could pick up sound excellently which we used for some of our research posts.
Weaknesses:
  • The only weakness would be that the iMacs would often freeze or crash probably due to having little RAM or a slow processor meaning that we couldn't multi-task that much.
  • At times the keyboard would be confusing as if you scrolled the mouse up your screen would go down and then with screenshotting a page you had to press three keys, while normal keyboards have one button.

4&5. Preliminary Task and Eval

Preliminary task evaluation: Pre-production -In the pre-production process as we did not have much time we did not write a storyboard or a script and just came up with an original concept (The Chase), w e also did not have any costumes or props that we could use. We had to make use of our space around school as we were not aloud off site to film and after walking around the whole school we decided the best place to use was the science block. Production During the production stage we used techniques such as match-on-action and shot reverse shot to create verisimilitude. Post production Finally in post production we imported everything on to the MacBooks and used final cut pro to edit our film. We pieced together the scenes as we wanted using continuity editing.
