Evaluation Question 1 (Kyle Stoneley 7161)
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real products?
In the image above is my 9 frame of my Preliminary Task.
1 - In the first frame we see our distribution company accompanied by a lion and its roar. Our group was inspired by the Metro Goldwyn Mayer distribution logo.
2 - In the second frame we are presented with our production logo, 'Spartan Production' we used a very original icon to stand out from other production logos. Our aim was to keep it simple.
3 - In the third frame we see a long shot of the protagonist walking along a long road towards the camera. We did this to introduce our main character of the preliminary task. With our third frame the credits can be seen aswell. This idea was inspired by the Walking Dead.
4 - The fourth frame is a low angle panning shot of the protagonist. This was effective as it introduces the setting of our short film.
5 - In the fifth frame is a mid shot of our protagonist and our antagonist further in the background. This is a key moment in our thriller opening because it is the first encounter that makes it a thriller.
6 - The sixth frame is a close up of the protagonist. This is also a key moment in our short film because the protagonist reacts to the antagonists presence.
7 - The seventh frame is a long shot of our 'Chase' scene. The audio used in this scene is effective and builds up suspense for the audience.
8 - The eighth frame is of our title. This was added into the introduction after the 'Chase' to show the linking of the title to the thriller opening. It is shown in big white bold letters.
9 - The final frame is our final scene in our thriller opening. This is when the two characters calm down and have conversation that reveals more to the story leaving the audience on a cliffhanger. This idea was inspired by the fighting scene where two brothers fight then calm down and have a conversation Step Brothers (2008, Adam McKay)
