Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product? Preliminary Task Final Product Pre-production: A main difference between my prelim and my final product is different cast and crew, this is because I was in a different group. Another big difference between the prelim and my final product is the research and preparation that went into each. For the prelim we barely done any research or preparation but for the final product we done loads, for example making a script and drawing up a story board. Production:  The biggest similarity between our preliminary and our final product is the use of the same equipment which includes camera and tripod. However for the final product we used a microphone which increased the quality of our final product. The main difference between our preliminary and our final product is the location. Due to the limited time for our prelim we had to film on sight (St...

What have you learn't about technologies from the process of constructing your product? Technologies we used in the process: Canon DSL 650 D with 18 - 55 mm lens: Although I was not the cameraman and therefore didn't have much experience with the camera, when I did use the camera it was easy to use and easy to film with. However one con that I would say is sometimes it was hard to focus with.   Microphone:  The Microphone picked up the dialogue of the actors very well and blocked out most of the background noise. Although when it picked up the dialogue the sound quality was very good, sometimes the mic wouldn't pick up the sound and we would have to film again. Blogger: Blogger was very useful throughout the production process of our thriller opening as it helped us to record our research and ideas with ease. However when producing something on blogger especially when using pictures it would become frustrating when the layout would change (from...

How did you attract/address your target audience? Our target audience is young adults/teenagers aged 15-25years of age. We decided  tho have this age rating as it is perfect for a thriller as it allows us to use a lot more violent/age restricted scenes. Also this age demographic has the most disposable income making them the most profitable target audience. The best way for us to reach our target audience is through social media due to our low budget and young target audience. Examples of social media sights we would use would be Twitter and Facebook. Another way we can reach our target audience is through our movie poster. For a successful thriller poster the main protagonist (Elrad) should be in the foreground and be the centre of attention. In addition the poster should include dark colour, mainly black to create a dark mood or to emphasise the brighter parts of the poster. Finally the most important aspect of the poster is the image, the image will take up mos...

FINAL PRODUCT - CHASE

Image
HERE IS OUR THRILLER OPENING NAMED CHASE:

FINAL PRODUCT CHANGE/CHANGE IN DIRECTION!!!!

Image
Here is the Pitch explaining why we changed our idea. This change began after we had filmed and edited our original plan, after this we showed it to some of our target audience and didn't like the feedback we received so we began to think of ways we could change our idea until we were struck by the totally new idea of 'CHASE'. Even though we knew it would be a challenge due to the remaining time we had, we still pursued this idea and our perseverance gave us the following thriller opening which we thought was excellent and way more better than the original, which then received the following feedback which we were very happy with. Similarities between our old and our New idea: Our protagonist is still involved with a government agency. He is still being chased (no pun intended). Our title have similar effects (Capital letters, big, bold, have special effects added to them) We planned a plot twist for our original idea and we have put a plot twis...

Introduction to Foley

Image
Foley Foley is the reproduction of everyday sound effects that are added to film, video, and other media in post-production to enhance audio quality. These reproduced sounds can be anything from the swishing of clothing and footsteps to squeaky doors and breaking glass.    In the image above a Foley artist is recreating the noise of a bike pedalling. When filming in the production stage the acoustics picked up by the microphone while recording are not always clear so sounds are recorded and edited into the visual footage. These sounds are enhanced which improves our audio experience. The word "Foley" is also used to describe a place, such as Foley-stage or Foley-studio, where the Foley process takes place.

17. TECHNICAL: Sound, Use of Mics

INTERNAL: MIC UNPLUGGED -   MIC 'ON' - MIC ENHANCED SETTING - External MIC UNPLUGGED -   MIC 'ON' - MIC ENHANCED SETTING -

15. TECHNICAL: 3 POINT LIGHTING

Image
The basic set-up consists of 3 light sources:- 1 positioned behind the subject being filmed and facing towards the camera – known as the the back light. The 2nd light is set-up to the left of the camera and side on to the subjects right hand side and is termed a fill light. Finally the Key light which is positioned level or just behind the camera and on it’s right side, directed towards the front of the subject. The lights should ideally be positioned wherever possible, directing the light down and towards the subject at a 45 degree angle.

14. Planning - Health and safety

As we are filming we need to ensure that we take into consideration health and safety of the cast and crew. We will do this by taking the follow actions. Making sure that when filming the water scene our electrical equipment doesn’t go near the water and that the crew doesn’t slip.  Be careful with the lighting as shining light directly into the actors eyes may put strain on their eyes. When using filming equipment we also need to make sure to keep the cables out of the way so that no one trips over them. When kicking open the door the actor won't kick the door as hard as he can otherwise they could injure there foot or break the door.
