How does your media product represent particular social groups?



Character 1 -  Protagonist 

- Military trained young adult 18 with a disturbed past. Very ambitious and courageous.

- Can work well in changing environments. Outstanding combat fighter.

Comparison to Alex Rider 

- Brave, great athletic skills.
- Military trained, works for MI6.
- Great combat fighter.
- Very intelligent.
- Can use Military grade weapons.
We have based our thriller opening character on Alex Rider because of his personality and traits. 

Similarities 

> Athletic
> Great combat fighter 
> Works for secret service
> Dresses well
> Military trained.
> Courageous and Brave

Differences

> Both come from different backgrounds. One comes from a wealthy background other was very poor and had to build his own wealth.
> Alex is very confident about himself whereas the Protagonist doubts himself a lot.


Character 2 - Antagonist 

- Mysterious character

- Out of shape not physically fit

- Alcoholic 

- Use to work for the secret service










Comparison to Tommy DeVito from Goodfellas
Tommy DeVito

> Bipolar

> Very unpredictable

> Has many problems with himself




We chose this character because of his unpredictable behaviour. He often changes from good to bad sometimes helping people or making things worse. This relates to the character in our thriller opening as he has a bad reputation however is trying to help the other character.

Looking back at your preliminry task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product? To remind you again here is our Prelim Task and our Full Product... 4&5. Preliminary Task and Eval

Preliminary task evaluation: Pre-production -In the pre-production process as we did not have much time we did not write a storyboard or a script and just came up with an original concept (The Chase), w e also did not have any costumes or props that we could use. We had to make use of our space around school as we were not aloud off site to film and after walking around the whole school we decided the best place to use was the science block. Production During the production stage we used techniques such as match-on-action and shot reverse shot to create verisimilitude. Post production Finally in post production we imported everything on to the MacBooks and used final cut pro to edit our film. We pieced together the scenes as we wanted using continuity editing. Evaluation Question 1 (Kyle Stoneley 7161)

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real products? In the image above is my 9 frame of my Preliminary Task. 1 - In the first frame we see our distribution company accompanied by a lion and its roar. Our group was inspired by the Metro Goldwyn Mayer distribution logo. 2 - In the second frame we are presented with our production logo, 'Spartan Production' we used a very original icon to stand out from other production logos. Our aim was to keep it simple. 3 - In the third frame we see a long shot of the protagonist walking along a long road towards the camera. We did this to introduce our main character of the preliminary task. With our third frame the credits can be seen aswell. This idea was inspired by the Walking Dead. 4 - The fourth frame is a low angle panning shot of the protagonist.
