Evaluation Question 1 (Elrad)
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real products?

From top left to bottom right:
- Our Distribution company.
- Our Production logo.
- Long-shot of the protagonist walking on a path.
- Low angle shot of the protagonist.
- Faded shot of protagonist where antagonist can be seen in the background.
- Close up of the protagonist.
- Long-shot/two shot of chase scene.
- Title of our thriller.
- Confrontation between our protagonist and antagonist.
Analysis of my 9 Frame for the thriller opening which shows how i have developed or challenged the forms and conventions of a real product:
- We included a distribution and production Logo and the distribution logo was in fact inspired by Metro Goldwyn Mayer and the production inspired by Hammer, as seen below. By being inspired by these two Logos it allowed us to make our own production logos to become more realistic and to the standard that it would be used in an actual film. The added research we did on production logos also enabled us to do this.
- In the third frame we created mystery at the beginning of the opening scene as we included one of the convention of a thriller which is a thriller usually being set in busy street of an urban area or (in this instance) environment of a suburban area.
- The suspense is then enhanced even more as we are introduced to this enigma as seen in frames 3/4/5/6........
- Through the different shots we used (Low & High Angle, PAN, POV,Close Up, etc) we were able to give our opening more of the thriller sense as the emotions and actions shown through these shots helped to portray that. This actually develops the them of a thriller opening as the shots usually found in them are simple and kept to a minimum but we thought that if we used more different shots/angles it would help with our audience becoming more intrigued with our enigma.
- Having our title come half or three - quarters of the way through our opening allows the conventions of the thriller opening to be fully adhered to.
- The conversation that then takes place (as seen in frame 9) develops and conforms to the conventions of a real thriller opening as some thrillers don't have any dialogue at all whereas some do. This depends on the type of thriller it is (i.e. psychological, action, etc) and whether the director wants dialogue to be included. We chose to add in dialogue as we felt it would help in drawing in our audience to watch the rest of the movie, as we left it in a cliffhanger where this enigma mentions something about his father.
